Centre Hospitalier Régional de Saint-Louis

The neonatology department at the Saint-Louis regional hospital is boosting its technical facilities with four new, state-of-the-art incubators, the fruit of a partnership between the Association Éducation, Santé, Environnement (ASEE), headed by Babacar GAYE, and the Spanish organization Hope And Progress. The hospital director, who took delivery on Wednesday in the presence of deputy mayor Lamine NDIAYE, expressed his satisfaction and stressed the importance of the new equipment, estimated at 12 million FCFA.

“This equipment will substantially improve the service offered to newborn babies. We can now remotely regulate the temperature of incubators and avoid unfortunate incidents”, said El Hadji Maguette SECK. “This will have a significant impact on the quality of care,” he said, expressing his heartfelt thanks to the donors.

Initially, the endowment was intended for the Langue de Barbarie health posts,” recalls Babacar GAYE, administrator of the Fonds de Développement des Transports Terrestres and head of the Alliance Politique (APR). It will eventually be handed over to the largest health institution in Saint-Louis to cover the needs of the city and region.

Mr. GAYE pointed out that, in addition to the offer, “Spanish technicians have honored us by coming to train local staff in the applications of these incubators”. “It’s a response to President Macky SALL’s call for officials to be at the bedside of their populations. It’s a way of following in the footsteps of Mayor Mansour FAYE,” he concluded.
