The Centre Hospitalier Régional de Saint-Louis now has a laser for glaucoma treatment. The device was acquired thanks to a donation of an eye ultrasound scanner, two tonometers and two ophthalmoscopes from the Vichy Medic’ Air Association, whose crew is taking part in the Toulouse-Saint-Louis Rallye 2022. Staff were trained and introduced to its use on Friday, and are encouraged to make good use of it.
This is a first in the Saint-Louis region and at this regional hospital, where glaucoma surgery is now possible. Emmanuel Sudre, Biomedical Engineer and Clinical Applications Specialist for Lasers and Ultrasound at Quantel Medical France, was responsible for commissioning the new medical equipment and training the hospital’s Ophthalmology Department staff.
