Our physiotherapy department at Saint-Louis Hospital
Physiotherapy is a paramedical specialty practiced by our qualified masseur-physiotherapists. It aims to prevent and treat various pathologies. Our team of physiotherapists can help with joint, muscle and neurological disorders, as well as improving breathing capacity. We offer a wide range of treatment techniques, divided into two types of practice: active and passive physiotherapy.
Active physiotherapy :
In this approach, the role of the physiotherapist is primarily educational and supportive. The patient is involved in his or her own healing by performing specific exercises taught by the physiotherapist, particularly for joint rehabilitation. Equipment such as gyms (bicycles, weight machines, etc.) can be used if necessary. The aim is to improve balance and posture, and reduce joint instability.
Passive physiotherapy :
In this approach, our physiotherapist uses massage, muscle stretching and joint mobilization (pull-ups, etc.) to re-educate your muscles and/or joints, giving them more elasticity (for muscles) or more mobility (for joints). In the case of neurological disorders, physiotherapy can be used to reduce stiffness and combat deformity.
It is important to note that the physiotherapist does not make a diagnosis, but intervenes according to the diagnosis made by your general practitioner or specialist. It can be involved in your overall treatment or as a complement to an existing treatment. At Centre Hospitalier de Saint-Louis, our physiotherapists are highly qualified and benefit from solid training. Their expertise and experience guarantee professional, attentive care for your muscles and joints. Our main objective is to ensure your well-being, from the moment you arrive until your full recovery.
